Candace Matthews is a retired C-Suite Executive and now full-time Board Member. Her public board appointments include Aptar Group where she serves as Chair of the Board, Societe BIC (chair – Nom/Gov Committee), MillerKnoll and Fifth Third Bank – Regional Board. Her non-profit boards include Frederik Meijer Gardens and Sculpture Park (Board Chair), Corewell Health Foundation and Figure Skating in Harlem.
Prior to retirement from Amway in 2023, Matthews was the Chief Reputation Officer (CRO). Matthews spent 6 years as Regional President (RP) of the Americas, heading all operations in North, Central and South America. Matthews joined Amway in 2007 as Global Chief Marketing Officer.
Her prior experience includes president of SoftSheen-Carson (L’Oreal) and marketing leadership positions at Coca-Cola, CIBA Vision (Novartis), Bausch + Lomb, Procter & Gamble and General Mills.
Matthews earned her B.S. in metallurgical engineering and administrative & management science from Carnegie Mellon University and an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
Her awards include Black Enterprise “Most Powerful Women in Business”, the Stanford Graduate School of Business Alumni Tapestry Award, Black Enterprise “Corporate Executive of the Year” and CEW Achiever Award.
